The concert of Soap&Skin has been moved to Thursday March 18th.
"'Lovetune for Vacuum' is one of the finest albums that you'll hear this year.. … Her piano playing is staggeringly rich, her voice glides effortlessly from plaintive Cat Power to ethereal Dead Can Dance-heights and back." (Humo)
"One of the most idiosyncratic debuts of recent years. Soap&Skin would appear to hail from a parallel pop-universe, from where previous greats like Kate Bush and Antony & The Johnsons have come to us." (De Volkskrant)
Soap&Skin is the alter ego of young Austrian Anja Plaschg. She wrote her debut ‘Lovetune For Vacuum’ between her 15th and 18th birthdays and it is immersed in melancholy. Not so surprising when you know that she's covered Nico in the past. The combination of her hypnotic voice and piano certainly sounds unique. What's more, it contains a bit of collaboration from fellow countryman and electronica-guru Fennesz, with whom she also shares a predilection for electronica. Seeing as we're busy quoting anyway – "Soap&skin is a memorable musical adventure, so beautiful, pure and intense that it would be a shame to waste too many words on it." according to Soundlike.
Support act will be young producer/pianist Nils Frahm from Berlin. Frahm plays contemporary, minimal classical music and has already worked with Peter Broderick (now enlisted into Efterklang) who also co-produced his album 'The Bell'. In connection with his first performance on Dutch soil, Kindamuzik wrote the following about Nils Frahm: "He plays stunning, melancholy and enormously diverse piano pieces". Bet that he turns the heads of SOAP&SKIN fans?
