penetrating picture of this funk-rock band
T.V. documentary, 2007, Bram van Splunteren – 85 min. – o.v., Dutch subtitles
From 1987 to 1994, film-maker Bram Van Splunteren tailed the Red Hot Chili Peppers and made various documentaries about the band. This ‘A Dutch Connection’ is an 85-minute long compilation of that unique material and it provides an insight into how, over a few years, the band grew from youngsters who regularly wrapped a sock around their privates at the end of a set into a stadium act that plays the biggest festivals worldwide.
Filmed in hotel rooms, rehearsal spaces and the homes of the musicians, we receive an enduring image of the band that influenced the music of the ’90s and onward.
