Recording of a unique concert in the ruins of Pompeii
Adrian Maben, 1972, 91mins.
This documentary / concert-film – created over 4 days in October 1971, in and around the ruins of the amphitheatre of Pompeii – caused quite a stir, right from its release in 1972.
Pink Floyd played – with only the film crew and few technicians as audience – work from their albums 'Meddle', 'A Saucerfull of Secrets' and 'Dark Side Of The Moon' (that was then still to be released). The result was a now legendary film in which director Adrian Maben and the band successfully capture the mystical and psychedelic mood of their shows on film, doing so via (at the time) revolutionary visual effects and an intense performance.
In 2016, Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour returned to Pompeii to repeat the entire project. This film is currently playing in cinemas.
We will be screening 'directors cut' from 2002.
This screening is free of charge, by reservation.
