Traditional finger-picking psych folk with a sharp edge.
The 24-year-old Ryley Walker began his musical quest amonst punk, but was also influenced at a young age by the cult heroes of psych folk from the late ’60s and early ’70s. Comparisons with Bert Jansch, John Fahey, Tim Buckley, Nick Drake or Tim Hardin are certainly not unfounded.
Walker has a phenomenal finger-picking technique and knows like no other how to make a good song. Add to that a great work-ethic and plenty of respect for his predecessors too and you've got all the ingredients of a great artist.
He's already being tipped as one of the very promising artists of the new trend in American roots artists.
His first full album will be released in April on the inimitable Tompkins Square label.
