Young master of the new Americana recruits
This 25-year-old American grew up in Okemah, Oklahoma, the birth place of Woody Guthrie, and that can clearly be heard. On his 2012 debut album, he presents tales about the America of today in a unique way, inspired by the songs of his village-mate and other greats like Townes Van Zandt, Randy Newman and Jimmy Web.
As far as we're concerned, he was rightly nominated for a Grammy Award this year (in category n°45 (of the 81 categories!) Best Americana Album). At the last edition of SXSW he played a concert that was described in the Chicago Times as: "as perfect as if it were a Jonathan Demme concert film."
Expect an evening of fresh folk and first-class Americana by one of the most promising talents from the new draft of American singer-songwriters.
