Métier and a wonderful birthday!
12:00 Martine de Kok
‘Very good wood’ in the Warande Park! Martine de Kok already presented her highly-praised second CD in AB’s Huis 23. That CD is titled (how did you guess): ‘Zeer goed hout’. Our man on the spot also spoke of ‘Eigenzinnige, ambachtelijke songs met spitse teksten.’ Add wonderful woodwind instruments to that and De Standaard then speaks of ‘Persoonlijk, muzikaal gedurfd, thematisch zinvol: waarom kennen we Martine de Kok niet beter? ’ Now, is the time!
12:45 Johan Verminnen
A Brusselian in the Warande Park! Because, wherever he lives, his artistic roots lie here (and his ‘Vierhoog in de wolken’ was one of the five songs that resounded at the Beurs through a choir in early April!) Or, of course, you’re instantly thinking of ‘Brussel’ or ‘Dans la rue des Bouchers’… but please also recall the recent ‘Lampedusa’. At 65, he has completed a new CD: ‘Tussen een glimlach en een traan’ – apparently a charming comment by Toots Thielemans who greatly inspired Johan.
