ƚBM (INSPIRED BY BLACK METAL)
ƚBM focuses on the influence of black metal anno 2014 and is a response to the current prevalence of the genre. Not coincidentally 30 years after the establishment of legendary Norwegian black metal band Mayhem. Nor coincidentally 20 years after the release of their debut ‘De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas’ - one of the most influential black metal albums ever.
HUNTER HUNT-HENDRIX: TRANSCENDENTAL BLACK METAL
As frontman/singer of Brooklyn's controversial black metal band Liturgy, we know Hunter Hunt-Hendrix especially for his unbelievably powerful voice and atypical look. In the manifest Transcendental Black Metal: A Vision of Apocalyptic Humanism, that he presented at the Black Metal Theory Symposium I: Hideous Gnosis in December 2009, he bandies the idea that there is a continuous evolution in the history of extreme metal. He sketches the differences between European (Hyperborean) and American (Transcendental) metal and so differentiates at the same time between blast beat and burst beat. He approaches (black) metal from a philosophical angle and assumes controversial standpoints.
Anno 2014, Hunter Hunt-Hendrix is working on a new version of the manifest and will come present it in Huis23, as a part of the IBM series.
Admittance is free of charge but seats are limited, please register via reservationshuis23@abconcerts.be (making mention of ‘Hunter’ in the subject title)
