Spiritual jazz meets afrobeat meets hiphop approved by Gilles Peterson

We saw Ezra Collective shine on the recently released compilation ‘We Out Here’ that presents the crème de la crème of the contemporary London jazz scene. ‘We Out Here’ assembled – under the direction of Gilles Peterson and Shabaka Hutchings – good folk like tenor saxophonist Nubya Garcia, Sons of Kemet and Moses Boyd. Amongst them, Ezra Collective stood out for their mix of spiritual jazz, afrobeat and hip-hop. So it’s no surprise then that they will serve as live backing band for rapper Pharoahe Monch. We recently saw the release of their EP ‘Juan Pablo: The Philosopher’, which was mixed by Floating Points.

For fans of Gilles Peterson, Sons Of Kemet, Fela Kuti, Black Flower, Kamaal Williams ...
