The Feeërieën are now onto their seventh edition. Yet we're still fearful of the Peter Principle. Musical growth: Yes, please! More international? Yes, please! But certainly no 'big – bigger – biggest' for the Feeërieën. After all, it is exactly that tangible, small-scale, and intimate enjoyment of (not immediately well-known but, more importantly,) impressive talent that makes the Feeërieën unique. Then again, did you know that Grizzly Bear and The Bony King of Nowhere already came to show us what they were capable of in '06 and '07 respectively?
We couldn't capture the spirit of the Feeërieën better than De Standaard once worded it:
“Once a year the Warande Park in Brussels transforms into a fairy-tale forest where weird and wonderful music resounds. Between trees strewn with colourful lights. The musicians who play here - for a quiet-as-a-mouse, usually seated, audience - are masters of melancholy. All this takes place under a thick leafy ceiling, on a bandstand that bathes in misty blue lights. A fata morgana such as you have never seen.”
