Zita Swoon Group has been presenting itself as a changeable collective of musicians lately. The most recent outing of which is the project  ‘Wait For Me’, a collaboration with musicians from Burkina Faso. ‘Wait For Me’ situates itself at the meeting point of African rhythms and Western blues. Mamadou Diabaté Kibié (grandmaster of the balaphone) and excellent singer Awa Démé (with her raw timbre) provided the African input. The CD of the same name is to appear in early 2012 and, to celebrate, the magical Zitafrica will play ‘Wait For Me’ in AB. The shows in 2011 were a success. Full halls and highly commending reviews like ‘****’ in De Standaard or this one in Focus Knack: ‘Wait For Me’ was a hit in every sense: an organic project with depth, one with which Stef Kamil Carlens yet again indicates that he still seeks the artistic challenge.”.
