Yeasayer loves Belgium and, yup, the Belgians they love Yeasayer. Our favourite Brooklynites will be coming to treat the fans 4x this year: following the successful launch of their new CD ‘Odd Blood’ in Antwerp's music club Trix, the trio then announced their visits to Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop. On Thursday 28 October the final show will then take place in the Main Hall of the AB. A date you mustn't miss.
For Yeasayer is one of those bands that appears to effortlessly absorb all possible genres and trends and then subsequently create an all-embracing sound. They succeed in the first place because the 3 members are dreamy, adventurous, multi-instrumentalists. That then results in the sort of album (see: TV On The Radio, Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear) that restores our faith in music’s future. That was the case with their debut ‘All Hour Cymbals’ and is certainly also valid for their new one ‘Odd Blood’. ‘Ambling Alp’ was already the jingly forerunner that combines the pure pop of Tears For Fears with sound-sorcery that makes even Lee Scratch Perry pale in comparison. But, together with MGMT and Vampire Weekend, Yeasayer then also forms the holy trinity that represents the musical freedom of Brooklyn anno 2010 (trivia-hunters alert: Brooklyn was originally established by the Dutch as Breuckelen).

Support comes from Suckers who are currently receiving praise from the press for their album ‘Wild Smile’: ‘Talking Heads meets Purple Rain-era Prince’! ‘The new-wave spot between Madness and Tears For Fears’! ‘Campfire singalongs for the Animal Collective generation’! They are touring America this summer with Menomena, then Europe in the autumn with Yeasayer.
