We're looking for rousing voices.

You probably know them already, those performers who blow us all away with their very specific vocal timbre and impressive, memorable voices: Jamie Cullum, Amy Winehouse, Tom Waits, Antony Hegarty, Arno, Björk, Mika, Marianne Faithfull, John Cale, Joss Stone,...

Because we're completely convinced that there are even more exceptional young vocal chords in the various genres (jazz, blues, folk, roots, rock, soul, chanson, pop, ...) that populate this world, together with The Music Village, we're organising for the fourth time a unique and international competition under the title VOICES NOW>.

The 12 laureats for the semi-finals are:
Alita Dupray (Canada), Charles Turner  (USA), Irène Serra  (UK), Sofia Ribeiro (Portugal), Barbara Bürkle  (Germany), Turku Fjoralba (Germany), Tjasa Fabancic (Slovenia), Maria Joao Mendes (Portugal), and Beata Przybytek (Poland)

From tuesday 9 till friday 12 december, the'll compete to obtain a place on the scene of the grand final.

Final
The best three finalists will continue on to the final and you can experience them live in the AB on Saturday 13 December.
Each will present a 20 minute set including their interpretation of Joni Mitchell's 'River'.
The jury is composed of: David Linx-president and Belgium’s best international representative of modern jazz singing, Dutch jazz-singer Denise Jannah, Belgian singer Dani Klein (Vaya con Dios), AB programmator Isabelle Decallonne and jazz singer Jihye Lee, winner of the 2007 competition.
For the audience, there will also be a chance to bring out their voice, by taking par in the nomination of the winner of the prize of the public. (with the support of the city of Brussels)
The concert will end with a performance of the jury singers and some “surprise guests”.
