Thomas Dolby is that British sound-wizard. From the early eighties already, in the days of New Wave and Synthpop. With deliciously inspired hits like ‘She Blinded Me With Science’, ‘Hyperactive’, ‘I Scare Myself’, ‘Europe And The Pirate Twins’, ‘Close But No Cigar’, ‘Airhead’, ‘Hot Sauce’, ‘The Flat Earth’...
Unlike old peers such as Howard Jones or Ultravox, Thomas Dolby is still active and impressive and relevant. Even for Gotye fans!? Proof of that is his latest CD ‘A Map Of The Floating City’. What's more, it includes the transmedial game of the same name.
This is the wise 'wizard' who once gave a rather legendary concert in Hof Ter Lo, Antwerp, (in 1984?). He clearly still stands on the edge of the artistic breach between entertainment and engagement. By the way, it's also possible to book Thomas Dolby for a 'lecture' but this really will be an (exciting) concert.
In the 'States' this is called the 'Time Capsule Tour.' Curious to see if he'll be coming to park that Time Capsule in front of the AB?
Pseudo scientific footnote: Thomas Dolby is also member # 0001 of The Flat Earth Society.
