The Big Pink is essentially duo Robbie Furze and Milo Cordell, who most willingly fuse rock and noise. Their name hails from 'Music From Big Pink', the debut album of The Band in 1968. With barely two singles to their name ('Velvet’ and 'Stop The World’ ), they have meanwhile become one of the hottest bands of the moment in London. This duo is currently working in New York's legendary Electric Ladyland studios on their debut album, which should be out sometime later in the year. Meanwhile check out the Gang Gang Dance remix of their single ‘Velvet’ via the worldwide web and also the video for the track 'Too young to love'. Live, The Big Pink receives impressive assistance from the likes of: Daniel O'Sullivan (Guapo, Sunn O))), Æthenor), electronica artist Jo Apps (Planet Mu), drummer Akiko Matsuura (Pre, Comanechi), and producer/technician Al O'Connell (see: The Rapture and Klaxons.). Support act will be The Germans. Following their debut 'Elf Shot Lame Witch', De Standaard called them "The most dangerous rock band in Belgium". The reason for their AB-show is now the limited release of 'Grote Meneren/Straffe Madammen', which throws light upon The Germans experimental side. Experimental side? Indeed. There are only 300 copies of this white vinyl (only) release and it's a departure from The Germans' typical noise and krautrock influences and is diluted with avant garde, improv and soundscapes in which even mountain-climber, poet and yoga practitioner (but also modern Satanist) Aleister Crowley turns up. Whoa! Basically: the ideal opener for The Big Pink.
