Steve Winwood! He played to an enthusiastic Sportpaleis with Eric Clapton earlier this year. Now, after two years, he finally returns to the AB – another sell-out? He has a new release out at the same time: 'Revolutions: The Very Best Of Steve Winwood, Spencer Davis Group, Traffic & Blind Faith' (available as a single CD and a 4 CD set from Universal). On top of all that, The Holmes Brothers will provide inspirational support from 7.30 pm. This will undoubtedly be a succulent Saturday night for fans of blues roots rock.
Steve Winwood’s oeuvre is a real adventure novel for music lovers. As a fifteen-year-old upstart, he started out in the Spencer Davis Group ('Gimme Some Lovin'...) before joining Traffic ('Dear Mr. Fantasy'...), and the supergroup Blind Faith with Eric Clapton ('Can't Find My Way Home'...) As well as all that, he was in demand as a session musician and played organ and guitar on a wide range of records: from Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Joe Cocker, Lou Reed, Tina Turner and Marianne Faithfull to Soulsister and Christina Aguilera.
In 1977, the year of punk, Steve started his successful solo career. Songs like 'Arc Of A Diver', 'Valerie', 'While You See A Chance', 'Talking Back To The Night', 'Higher Love', 'Back In The High Life Again' and 'Roll With It' are etched into our collective memory.

The support act will be The Holmes Brothers: Sherman, Wendell and Popsy, three mighty roots musicians who together have provided heavenly harmonies for around 30 years. They have toured or worked with Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Willie Nelson, Peter Gabriel, Ben Harper, Patti Smith... and their new CD is called 'Feed My Soul' (on the Alligator label, produced by Joan Osborne!).
