8:30 pm - The Bear That Wasn't
The Bear That Wasn't – a name is derived from the children's book by Frank Tashlin from ’46 - is the alter-ego of Nils Verresen. Armed with an acoustic guitar and angelic vocal chords, he's already impressed us at the AB as opener for Kimya Dawson. He often cites to Gravenhurst, Sufjan Stevens, Bon Iver and Elliott Smith as influences. His debut ‘And So It Is Morning Dew’ was released this spring, on which - true to tradition - he comes up with fine song titles like ‘The Little Witch And The Brave Boy Are Going To Venus’ or ‘The Exciting Adventures of A Bad Bet, A Bad Alliteration And Mister Consequences’. But more importantly: it's an album full of wonderful Duyster-music with gems like ‘Winterwandering’ that you immediately want to put on endless repeat. Before and after his visit to the Feeërieën, this bear is/will be finishing a tour of Belgium under the title ‘365 dagen’, he travels by bicycle and with acoustic guitar to visit 365 households willing to provide him with accommodation for the night. In exchange Nils gives a living-room concert. A film about this unique project will later be released by the people behind ‘Part of the Weekend Never Dies’, Soulwax' tour documentary.

A twelve-member experimental folk band from Brighton that centres around Tom Cowan (son of Adrian) and Jacob Richardson (indeed, son of Noel). We immediately fell for the band after hearing their track 'The Wreck is Not a Boat' (from their debut of the same name) on MySpace. Not only the deep, emotional voice of Tom Cowan is a winner but also the band's rich musical sound (think: cello, violin, trumpet, clarinet,…). They've toured with the likes of David Grubbs, Peggy Sue, Rothko and even twice with Mumford & Sons. They've shared a stage with Laura Marling in the prestigious Royal Festival Hall and with Jaga Jazzist and Efterklang in the Barbican in London. Recent musical accomplishment: This year's release of the ‘Rivers’ EP. Are you ready for their undoubtedly impressive Belgian stage debut?
