Or, where the crisis can lead. During the ‘Great Depression’ the Brill Brothers were forced to rent out their tailor's building on Broadway in New York to music publishers. As of the 30's, what once previously housed folk from the stock-exchange suddenly became the music factory that - until late in the seventies - produced worldwide hits whose influence can still be felt in musical history to this day.
That's the reason the current crisis inspired walking-musical-encyclopedia Patrick Riguelle to browse through the rich song tradition that greats like Leiber & Stoller, Neil Diamond, Carole King, Burt Bacharach, Paul Simon, Doc Pomus and even Phil Spector wrote there at the time.
Since De Laatste Show, it should be no surprise that Riguelle is also one of the best placed singers in the country to interpret those songs.
But that even John Terra owes a debt to those same musical roots was, until now, a well kept secret. Not in the least because, until now, almost no one had had ever heard Terra sing in English.
That secret will be unveiled in “Songs from the Brill Building”.
Throughout this song filled evening, Riguelle & Terra - together with a top class band - polish up a collection of song gems from the fifties & sixties.
'Golden oldies' you could say. Not due to nostalgia, but rather due to a love of the profession. Also laced with trivia and anecdotes for every musical connoisseur. Writing songs and performing them: it is an art apart!

With:
Patrick Riguelle: vocals & guitar
John Terra: vocals & guitar
Chris Peeters: guitars & backing vocals
Paul Poelmans: keyboard
Wouter Berlaen: bass & backing vocals
Stoy Stoffelen: drums & percussion
