 SPOT ON DENMARK II FEAT.: SLARAFFENLAND + SAID THE SHARK + ONE-EYED MULE + TONE + SCREENING OF... 'Spotted On Spot'

This year in the AB there is/has been quite a lot of attention for music from the far north. There was the successful edition of Iceland Airwaves (in collaboration with Bozar) which focused on the contemporary music scene in Iceland and the Feeërieën were fairly full of Icelandic, Swedish and Danish music too. For the second time in a row we also proudly present SPOT ON DENMARK II in which we offer a stage to 4 (un)known Danish bands.

The bands were selected by a jury of Belgian journalists, programmers and managers. They chose the most promising Danish bands they saw this year at the SPOT festival in Aarhus. SPOT ON DENMARK II has been made possible with the assistance of Rosa (The Danish Rock Council), the Spot festival and MXD (Music Export Denmark).

Preceded by a documentary, the 4 bands to perform are:

7:00 pm- SCREENING OF... 'Spotted On Spot'
(director: John Erbuer - 2008 - 30 min.) Images giving an impression of the Spot Festival '08 that took place in Aarhus. John Erbuer moved around the festival discreetly with a handycam. The result will be shown for the first time on this evening.

8:00 pm - Tone
A woman behind her laptop, sounding like a cross between Tujiko Noriko from Japan, Björk-protégé Leila and also the high half of CocoRosie's vocals. Tone is the alter-ego of Sofie Nielsen, who released an impressive audio-visual album: 'Small Arm Of Sea'. Remarkable clause on the album: 'Please copy this record to all of your friends - thank you!'.

9:00 pm - One-Eyed Mule


10:00 pm -Said The Shark
Surprising band around singer Maya Saxell. Their album 'Silly Killings' was loaded with positive reviews in Denmark. KBH Magazine: '... a few noise bursts have found their way into the creaking, whispering and jangling of the songs... All made with a delicate intuition, paired with Saxell's piercing verses... Said the Shark strays from the ordinary. Blissful.'

11:00 pm - Slaraffenland
The absolute revelation of the last Spot Festival was this Slaraffenland. Their latest album 'Private Cinema' has already been released on Efterklang's Rumraket label. Their music initially sounds very conventional, but is peppered with avantgarde, noise, jazz and rock. As if Sun Ra, Animal Collective and Broken Social Scene went camping together. Basically: a rightful headliner for Spot On Denmark II.
