Rockamovya! For fans of Groundation, Ernest Ranglin, Augustus Pablo, Sly & Robbie... and while we're at it, inevitably, Bob Marley too. This is an irresistible reggae project from Ryan Newman (bass), Marcus Urani (keys) and Harrison Stafford (mainly fabulous vocals), all three are Groundation members, plus West Coast jazz-cat guitarist Will Bernard, plus none less than Leroy 'Horsemouth' Wallace (from the likes of Burning Spear and The Abyssinians) on drums!
The fivesome first came together in February 2006 in order to honour, indeed, Bob Marley. The result was a wonderfully tight live collaboration, but the fruitful jams also developed into timelessly inspiring recordings for the CD 'Rockamovya' (out here via Munich).
This is the rock-steady of the 60's extending into the 21st century by way of 70's jazz-fusion. Exquisite live for those who are also open to Groundation's unique jazz-reggae mix (and in April 2008 that was an entire AB). You won't find better experimental reggae with respect for tradition than that of Rockamovya, yo all!
