Their previous 'Techari' was a mestizo masterpiece. Now this dizzying collective returns with 'Aocana', still on their Diquela label but now via Warner.
After three years of well-earned peace and relative quiet and familial happiness Ojos De Brujo still succeed in evolving. Or as we could recently read in De Standaard: 'more airy rumba songs... riper... more attention for the song and for danceable structures... noticeably more Cuban influences... links with flamenco and Indian music... the complete title of this album is actually Aocana Garlotchi, which more or less means 'now with the heart' in Calo, the language of the Gypsies'.
In their own unique way, Ojos De Brujo remain the inventors of flamenco hip-hop, the leaders of the Barcelonan mestizo scene... Since '96, 'a non stop punk rock flamenco party with a digital backbeat'. Still an idiosyncratic, quick tempered and layered sound with  Barcelona as homebase, that meeting point between Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean Sea. Especially singer Marina 'La Canillas' Abad is - literally - the extremely attractive vocal lure, definitely when she's in love, as can now be heard on Aocana: 'you can feel the energy of an amorous couple in the songs on this album'.
