America's Marcus Miller is the best bandleader you could get, as audience (refer to his previous sold-out 'Tutu' visit to AB) but also as musician (refer to 'his discoveries' trumpet player Christian Scott and saxophonist Alex Han!
Even so, should we just situate Marcus Miller a little? Beautifully streamlined, strongly muscled, sharply played and funky rock-jazz-fusion from the top shelf. Exciting stuff!
You're sure to recognise him as bassist for Miles Davis (Tutu!), Aretha Franklin, Boz Scaggs, Me’shell NdegéOcello, Scritti Politti, George Benson, Joan Armatrading and many other stunning sessions. There are already more than 600 productions mentioned on his website, with his own - now 50 or so - CDs neatly alphabetised between all that other great talent.
