Laura Marling is the wonder child of the latest draft of British folk performers. Bagged a Brit Award for Best Female Artist and signalled by the collective press as the Joni Mitchell of the 21st century. Both her debut ‘Alas, I Cannot Swim’ and early 2010 successor ‘I Speak Because I Can’ were nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Rightly so too. Her second album in a year was just recently released under the title ‘A Creature I Don’t Know’ and, this time too, it's no collection of hastily thrown together leftovers but rather pure, tormented folk that once again stands out in the genre. A fine extract from the great talent that Laura possesses, now already, as Marling is only 21 years young.
 
Following an in-no-time sold-out concert in the Botanique's tiny Witloof Bar, that was much enjoyed, Ms Marling is now ready for a concert in the AB.

Support-act will be singer-songwriter Pete Roe (from London) who, as musician, moves in the same circles as Laura Marling, Mumford & Sons and is also a member of their touring bands.

Jammer, ik zat te wachten op "Hope in the air", het eerste - de live-versie - wat ik hoorde van haar via Spotify en het was bingo, haren recht op de armen, cd gekocht, ticket besteld voor AB-concert. Soms moet een mens niet twijfelen! Toch bedankt Laura, zeer genoten, volgende keer speel je misschien "mijn" nummer?

Great concert!! Although she didn't play "Devil's Spoke", "The Beast", "Cross your fingers". I hope someday she comes to Barcelona for a private show at Apollo.

Veel beter dan het optreden in de Botanique. Nog steeds op z'n Marlings, maar anders moet ze dat ook niet doen. Heb er enorm van genoten. Hoedje af!

Blij dat ik er eindelijk bij kan zijn. Omdat ik me nog nooit op de nieuwsbrieven van de botanique heb aangemeld heb ik haar de vorige keren dat ze in het land was, gemist. De verwachtingen zijn hoog!

Spijtig dat ze niet in de Rotonde of Orangerie van de Botanique staat... 18? is trouwens best veel vind ik, hoewel het de moeite was in de Witloofbar een tijdje terug. Agja, ik teken me alleszins present :-)
