Dig it: superb psychedelic softrock retro-trip!

That's right, yet another Jonathan! Yet another Wilson too! But 'not family of'. Jonathan Wilson is quite unique (in his seventies retro-trip) and just the national press alone about his debut CD 'Gentle Spirit' (on the Bella Union label via V2):

De Morgen: '4*.... not a boring moment... with the unique power to leave his audience high and/or moved... yet never inauthentic for a moment... Keep an eye on this friendly guy.'
De Standaard: '4*/5...Titles like 'Desert Raven' and 'Natural Rhapsody' are almost classics, in a way that we thought had died out. Devendra Banhart had better look out.'

Jonathan Wilson has apparently also worked in the past with Will Oldham, Robbie Robertson, Erykah Badu, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne... Plus on this album also enjoying the collaboration of a Black Crowe, a Jayhawk, a Vetiver... There are names like Elliott Smith, Neil Young, Pink Floyd... dropped amongst the comparisons.
All good, though not entirely sure if this very long but gripping CD now came about as a tribute to or a parody of that Californian soft-rock scene of the 'far-out' seventies. But Jonathan Wilson takes us along on a blissful musical excursion here. Let yourself go!
