One time protégé of Mike ‘The Streets’ Skinner goes solo and breaks dance records

 
Dance anthems that make your trouser legs flap… that lift you up and get you singing along… big sounds & waving arrangements… served up in a single breath by the latest British dance sensation Example. ‘Changed The Way You Kissed Me’ is an out-and-out world hit (the video has been viewed a mere 15 million times on YouTube) and combines primal British raps with the earwiggy quality of Faithless and the stadium sound of Swedish House Mafia. His latest songs also contain elements of electronica and dubstep (he and Skream wrote the – erm – light-footed ‘Shot Yourself In The Foot Again’).
 
Elliot John Gleave was discovered early in his career by Mike Skinner (of The Streets if you will) and released 2 singles and debut album on the latter’s The Beats label. His first album on the Data label was produced by Calvin Harris, MJ Cole and Chase & Status. The recently released third album ‘Playing In The Shadows’ was made with help from Nero, Faithless and Laidback Luke.

With the assistance of vi.be and Poppunt, AB organised a search for a suitable support-act for British sensation Example on March 7. The ideal support-act was found (and approved by Example himself) and The Dead Color may call itself the lucky one.
 
Crackling vinyls, yellowed film posters, analogue synthesizers, a microphone and a computer. The perfect line-up for Erik VH, who distils sharp songs with a beating heart, covered by a sauce of old-school synths à la Kraftwerk, New Order and Giorgio Moroder. Were immediately noticed by Studio Brussel at the end of 2011 with the song 'Reds'. Erik VH (vocals, synths) is supported on stage by Pieter B (drums, pads), Diederik H (synths) and Pieter DC (synths).
