Cage the Elephant wekt indierock weer tot leven ***
Indierock kan weer, dat bleek woensdag toch in Brussel. Met gitaren die klonken als laag overscherende straaljagers, riffs die rafeliger waren dan een verkreukeld shirt, en een zanger die de opvolging voor Iggy Pop leek te willen verzekeren, wekte Cage the Elephant de punkrock van de nineties opnieuw tot leven.
Ze worden het nieuwe snoepje van de gitaarminnende hipster genoemd, en op Studio Brussel werd hun optreden tijdens Sound of Sam opgenomen in de lijst van beste sessies ooit. Toch bleef het jonge volkje in een uitverkochte AB-Club duidelijk in de minderheid. De eindexamens zaten daar ongetwijfeld voor iets tussen, maar ook de muzikale huisstijl van Cage the Elephant dreef de gemiddelde leeftijd gevoelig op. Read more on DeMorgen.be
