Arquettes gave a taster of what we can expect from their debut album at Boomtown: angular songs in which awkward electro grooves, bittersweet singing and hefty rock guitar share the bed. ‘Wave On’ will be in the shops on 13 September. They will officially present it on 29 October in the ABclub. Arquettes first appeared in late 2007 when they brought out their self-released EP containing "It’s A Relief" and "Feehler" which were modest radio hits. Their new material enticed international producer Stéphane "Alf" Briat (Air, Phoenix, Etienne De Crecy, Alex Gopher etc.) to work with them earlier this year. In March 2010 the band headed for Paris to record the album in the legendary La Frette studios (Feist, Patrick Watson). Following their performance at Boomtown an Indiestyle journalist wrote: "after half an hour of Arquettes you remember exactly why you once lost your heart to the wonderful world of music." De Standaard also asked: "Will this band follow in the footsteps of Team William?"

The Man Up North is a furiously rocking fivesome from Leuven. The band shot out of the starting blocks only a year ago and soon managed to win over Studio Brussel. In mid-May the StuBru broadcasters crowned The Man Up North week-winner of VI.BE On Air. Their catchy riffs and edgy lyrics earned the band a week's airplay in Select. The newly formed band lived up to these first words of praise in a live show at Leuven's STUK. With an energetic and surprising set, The Man Up North made a good impression... also upon the organisers of Bruksellive. So it came that the five were invited to open the Bruksellive festival on 31 July. The crew from Leuven erected an exciting wall of sound in the idyllic Groentheater, whereby atmospheric intros effortlessly led to overwhelming highs. On 29 October The Man Up North will be the support act to Arquettes in the Ancienne Belgique, as part of the Coca-Cola Sessions.

Coca-Cola Sessions? Our refreshing structural partner mentioned in the name has arranged 9 extra Club concerts from the '09-'10 season on to support young national and international talent, and before an attractive, young crowd. We wrote in the first press release: ‘Will we discover the artist today who, in a few years, will bring Herman Schueremans’ garden party to a close’? That paragraph turned out to be visionary, as both Balthazar and Customs were on the Rock Werchter stage this summer.

We present a new, much-talked about series of the Coca-Cola Sessions with Arquettes and The Tellers. With, from this season on, reports which can be seen on ABtv and Moodio.tv.
