She already made herself noticed in the AB as opener for the Grinderman two-dayer in ‘10 but now she's here in her own right. A lot has changed for this full-blood Brit, in barely a year's time. Calvi released her untitled debut with collaboration from the likes of Brian Eno and under supervision of Rob Ellis - regular producer for PJ Harvey. The album was not only swamped with praise but, additionally, landed Anna Calvi in the famous BBC’s Sound Of 2011 chart (see too: Jamie Woon, James Blake, The Vaccines,…). Vocally, Calvi hovers somewhere between Patti Smith, Edith Piaf and PJ Harvey. You have to admit: there are worse comparisons to be had. For those desiring another lauding quote to close with … Humo, on the album: “An album that alternates ominous, soundtracky mood songs with bluesy ghost songs and well-aimed rock songs.” Convinced?

Support act is American songwriter Grey Reverend. Grey Reverend – L.D. Brown to his friends – is no unknown for fans of The Cinematic Orchestra as he has toured with the band as guest singer. His first album ‘Of The Days’ was even released on TCO frontman Jason Swinscoe's own label (Motion Audio). Daily Mirror about the debut: "An unsuspecting gem... One to Watch".
