Real name is Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III and this American talent was previously mainly active rapping with Emanon. But what a fantastic turnaround and big breakthrough with second solo CD 'Good Things': bursting with soul and style but at the same time also with an honest message and heaps of respect for grandmasters like Bill Withers, Shuggie Otis, Otis Redding, Bobbie Womack, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green... at the same time Aloe Blacc is apparently not afraid of incredibly personal covers of The Velvet Underground, Sly Stone, Hall & Oates, Bob Marley, Green Day, John Legend, or even Michael Jackson!
