Trio Drums are for Parades hail from Ghent and deal in noise-rock of the dirtiest kind. But with class. Start searching for the exceptionally beautiful 10 inch release (still our favourite audio medium) carrying the poetic title 'Artificial Sacrificial Darkness in The Temple of The Damned'. This EP was - remarkably enough - produced by Niek Meul from Das Pop and released via the brand new Skeleton Ears label that operates under the title Stupid Music Label For Stupid Neglected Bands. By the way, guitarist/singer Wim Reygaert was a director in an other life and he recently released the short film ‘Mompelaar’ (Mumbler) with a cast consisting of the likes of Serge Buyse (’t Hof Van Commerce) and also Gunter Lamoot who won the prize for best Short in Berlin. Finally: Drums Are For Parades also loves style… their T-shirts were designed by artist Manor Grunewald.

Hailing from Kortrijk, active since ’99 and finally in the AB: Amenra. Indeed, written as one word please, because Amenra links the biblical 'Amen' with the Egyptian god 'Ra'. Amenra already knocked our socks off a few years ago at Pukkelpop, with their heavy post-metal, noise, sludge, slowcore... For that matter, just as their releases (which answer to the names ‘Mass I’, ‘Mass II’, ‘Mass III’ and ‘Mass IIII’ and were mainly released via the Belgian record label Hypertension). Do we hear Neurosis or Isis in there? Frontman annex brulboei Colin Van Eeckhout: "People often say that we remind them of those bands, but we all listen to very different things. Our greatest inspiration is life itself." At Eurosonic, the band convinced us with a brand new cast. Because a well prepared person is worth two – definitely start looking for their just recently released, very limited release book ‘Church Of Ra’…

10:00 pm A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS
Gonzo Circus, the ‘independent magazine for innovative music and culture’ once described it as "Biting and amazingly beautiful". We couldn't describe the music of this ‘loudest band of New York’ any better ourselves. Or maybe: "The most ear-shatteringly loud garage/shoegaze band you’ll ever hear" wrote The Washington Post. We're already head-over-heels from their debut of the same name (in America released via Killer Pimp, in Europe via Rocket Girl) … We hear My Bloody Valentine and also The Jesus and Mary Chain (in the ‘Psychocandy’ days) and also the then seriously under-estimated Head Of David.

It's clear that things are happening around A Place To Bury Strangers. MGMT took them on tour through Europe last year, just as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Nine Inch Nails did with them in the US. Although this band from Brooklyn is a trio, guitarist/singer Oliver Ackermann can clearly be called the pivotal figure. Ackermann not only recorded almost everything for their debut but also runs an effect-pedal factory (annex recording studio annex concert space) called Death By Audio. Ackermann’s pedals (that answer to names like Total Sonic Annihilation or Interstellar Overdriver) are often defining for the sound of A Place To… Sometimes Ackermann even makes a particular pedal for one specific song. And not unimportant: amongst his clients you can find the likes of U2, Wilco and also Lightning Bolt. Even a DJ-set with effect-pedals is in the making. Our offer is already on the way. Lastly, we won't keep this quote to ourselves, from a concert organiser who had A Place To… visiting: "I've only had to wear earplugs twice in my entire life and both times were tonight".
