Shearwater was formed by two bandmembers of Austin, TX's Okkervil River. Okkervil's singer and guitarist, Will Sheff, and back-up vocalist and accordion/keyboard player, Jonathan Meiburg formed Shearwater so they could write softer, more folk-influenced music. Band members today include Jonathan Meiburg, Thor Harris, Kim Burke, Jordan Geiger, and Kevin Schneider. Binnen een dikke maand brengen Meiburg en co hun nieuwe schijf, Animal Joy, uit. Via de offiële bandsite kan je wel al van het nieuwe Breaking the Yearlings genieten!

Driewerf hoera! Op donderdag 29 maart 2012 staat de band in de Rotonde (misschien wel de mooiste zaal van België), een prachtig kader om de band aan het werk te zien. Hun nieuwe schijf Joy Animal is ergens voor begin 2012! Ga dat zien, zeg dat de wolf het gezegd heeft.

Shearwater ontwaakt stilaan uit z'n winterslaap en komt in 2012 met een nieuw album op de proppen. In aanloop van dit ongetwijfeld nieuwe pareltje kondigde de groep een nieuwe (US) tour aan. Hou deze band vooral in de gaten!
