Immerse yourself in a portion of refreshing afro-pop!
Under the moniker Sinkane, Sudanese multi-instrumentalist Ahmed Gallab explores all corners of the musical spectrum – afrobeat, soul, funk, jazz, psychedelic pop, electronica, … – and moulds all those genres into a refreshing whole on ‘Mean Love’, his latest longplayer on DFA Records (homebase to the likes of Arcade Fire, Hot Chip and Factory Floor).
He earned his stripes as session musician for Yeasayer (synths) and Caribou (drums) and just recently served as bandleader for the explosive ‘ATOMIC BOMB!’ project: a musical declaration of love for the Nigerian synth pioneer William Onyeabor, with which Gallab - together with big-shots like David Byrne (Talking Heads), Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Pat Mahony (LCD Soundsystem) and Luke Jenner (The Rapture) – skimmed the summer festivals.
