First Class American Country Folk
American country-folk singer-songwriter Laura Gibson is blessed with a wonderful voice and a talent for making the most beautiful songs, entirely in the tradition of artists like Alela Diane, Karen Dalton, M. Ward or Sharon Van Etten.
After she moved from Portland to New York to work on a new album, in the late summer of 2014 , fate struck: on 26 March 2015, a gas explosion in the apartment building she lives in killed 2 people, injured many and destroyed all her possessions (including instruments, note books and lyrics & music she was working on). In the months afterward - with the support of friends, fans and many strangers - she did her best to get her life back on track and rewrite the lost lyrics.
The event provided enough inspiration & material to fill an entire album, Empire Builder, which will be released on 1 April via City Slang and she will come present the result a few weeks alter in Huis23.
