Desert Soul? Mali-Electro? Welcome to Motel Bamako!
Fine moments from Mali. With an international soul feel at the same time too, from a singer who can choose between English, French and probably some local language as well?
'Motel Bamako' is her latest and third CD, with this text: 'a journey between her roots and childhood, the 'Rail Band de Bamako' and 'vibrations from the electro-underground'.
Mali is present here in her encounters, joys and laments, up to and including the war situation in the West African country.
The most recent recordings took place with the likes of Stephen Budd (Africa Express), Oxmo Puccino, Cheick Tidiane Seck, Oumou Sangaré, The Noisettes, Krazy Bald Head (Ed Banger)...
On stage: even more of that mix of r'n'b, desert blues, and sultry sensuality.
