Rocking & rousing sultry live sensation
Rocking good! Tight surf, rockabilly and blues-roots with an impressively packaged voice to top it all off. Imelda May is the name and – ahem - her latest, second CD is called 'Mayhem'. A nice wordplay but a meaningful one too as Miss Imelda May can certainly stir up a storm live (since 2006 in the likes of the Bruxelles Club in Dublin!)
Plenty of passionate songs (and clips): 'Johnny Got A Boom Boom', 'Mayhem', 'Psycho', 'Inside Out'... but also touching versions of 'Tainted Love', 'Walking After Midnight', 'Drown In My Own Tears', 'Kentish Town Waltz'... and following on from her debut 'Love Tattoo' (which was awarded platinum in homeland Ireland) now finally there's that new CD 'Mayhem' (via Universal). Sound and packaging make us shout 'rockabilly' but these are above all vivid, stylish and feistily performed songs (with room for a trumpet or extra percussion too.)
Imelda May has already toured with Jools Holland and so also gloriously passed through on his TV show Later With... . Jeff Beck is also a big fan and took her along to the studio, or to flashy parties like the Grammys and a Tribute to guitar wizard Les Paul.
Feel like some real rock? Keen on intense emotions? Let classy libertine Imelda May drive you incredibly nuts!
There are two clip-versions of 'Johnny Boom Boom' available. We went for the naughty non-official version, of course.
The support-act for Imelda May will be provided by The Boppin' Bevin Brothers: ‘Always impeccably dressed and their hair in a ducktail, alias the house-DJs of Radio Modern. They scour the land with their record crates and set any venue they encounter alight with everything from Sinatra to Elvis!’`
